With a father who played professional futsal in Peru, it’s no surprise that Luis has embraced and loved the game since he could walk! Playing in the streets of Peru and Venezuela until moving to the United States, Luis is passionate about the Peruvian and Brazilian style of futsal and brings it to the field. He has played competitively since his youth and has had elite training from renowned players and coaches such as his father, Jim Baker, and Luis Dabo. He has trained with Brazilian teams Sao Paulo, America, Bahia, and Pameiras. He received offers from UCLA, Duke, Brown University as well as offers to play in Peru and Brazil. In 2013, Luis created Alianza Football Academy in Utah as well as the first and only men’s professional futsal team in Utah. He was assigned by the Major League Futsal Federation as national director and established the Utah Futsal Association in which he is the commissioner with duties including the development of the sport as well as director of State Cup and other leagues and tournaments. He created the first women’s professional futsal team in Utah and is currently the head coach.
